Anita Shrager
Anita knew with certitude from an early age that she was going to be an
artist. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, she won a citywide
full scholarship to the school of her choice, The Philadelphia College
of Arts (University of the Arts), where she graduated as an illustration
and painting major. Later she attended the Graduate School of Painting
at Pratt Institute in New York city.
I've worked as an illustrator and teacher, but for more than forty
years, my passion has been portraying the color and light of the ocean
and river towns of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
She has studied and painted with some of the most renowned artist of our
country, including T.M. Nicholas, Kevin MacPherson, Will Barnett, and
Irby Brown. Her journey has now brought her to the wonderful art
community of New Hope, where she draws great inspiration from the past
tradition of Pennsylvania Impressionists.
Anita specializes in painting landscapes in the outdoors, and her
preferred medium is oil. Her work has received national press and won
top honors from some of the most esteemed national organizations,
including two Gold Medals from The National Arts Club in New York, where
she been an exhibiting member for over ten years, and awards from both
Grumbacher and Windsor Newton. She is equally proud of her regional
awards, including two from the Phillips Mill Art Association of New
Hope, now celebrating 75 years of excellence. |
